Tail, Inc. was launched back in 1974 by an enterprising young tennis player and “mom of three” who became bored with standard “tennis whites”. After creating a highly popular line of fashionable tennis attire, women’s golf wear was soon introduced…and sales exploded. There is no end to this tale – Tail is now nationally recognized as one of the top three manufacturers of tennis and golf apparel in the world.
We at Indra Technology like to think of ourselves as a chapter in the overall Tail success story. When Escape was first introduced to the golf industry, Tail was one of our very first customers. Mike Skidd, Tail’s Chief Financial Officer, embraced Escape (and even helped us to polish our product!) Soon Escape was helping Tail’s order management process become much more efficient -- saving the company time, resources, and dollars. According to Mike, “We were able to eliminate four inside order entry personnel by adopting Escape. In addition, by placing more of the order management responsibility on our reps, we were able to reduce our error rate and have less duplicated orders.”
Recently, Tail added Escape Websuite to provide their customers a convenient way to place orders, 24/7. Added Mike, “With the functionality of Escape, our customers can view orders placed by their sales reps, giving our customers complete account visibility. Our customers find it easier to do business with us and it helps to drive sales.”
A key feature for Tail is Escape’s ability to manage content. Noted Don Fleming, Tail’s MIS Director, “As changes occur within our product catalog, the system automatically updates all of our sales channels saving us programming costs. This works for our B2B retailers who now place their orders directly as well as our sales force. And the catalog auto import feature is saving us many hours of manual data entry by enabling us to pull data from our ERP system directly into Escape.”
Thanks to Escape, the future looks bright for both Tail, Inc. and Indra Technology. We’re hopeful that “Our Tale of Two Companies” will happily continue, with no end in sight. (Thanks to Charles Dickens for allowing us to piggyback on his great literary work…)
